The game was originally announced in 1995, and after years of development hell, the title finally seemed to have the full support of all those involved. Prey for the Gods will be released on PC and Mac. It’s early days though, and Prey for the Gods doesn’t yet have a release date, so it’s unclear just how much that resource/exhaustion system will factor into the game. No Matter also notes that they are working on the game’s vertical slice, and curiously, some of the features listed include a “resource system” and an “expanded exhaustion system”, so when it comes to warming up following those blizzards, it sounds like we’ll be putting together our own campfires too. Meanwhile, when the sun’s out, you have better visibility and you’ll find it easier to navigate the environment and find where you need to go. No Matter goes on to say that Prey for the Gods‘ weather system is “just as dangerous as the giants you are after” and that in extreme weather, such as a blizzard, you risk “getting cold from exposure” and you will have to decide whether you carry on looking for a god or if you should “change course and look for shelter from the storm to warm up”. But in the latest newsletter for the game the developer also explains that the environment itself poses a risk to Prey for the Gods‘ protagonist.

The upcoming title from No Matter Studios bears more than a striking resemblance to Team Ico’s iconic action/adventure game Shadow of the Colossus and so naturally, those who watched the Prey for the Gods teaser trailer were excited to take on similar gameplay.Īs for why we’ll be taking on those gods, No Matter previously revealed that the game takes place in a “dying world” that’s stuck in a “never-ending” winter and we’ll need to defeat those gods in order to survive.
